Today, QAL sustains a focus on lean manufacturing and electro-mechanical assembly.
Dave Brandt, along with 5 employees, started Engineering Research and Design Associates (ERDA). Together they built lightweight airplane seats based on a unique honeycomb design that is still used today. Brandt continued to diversify the products ERDA produced and expanded into the medical equipment industry, producing parts for GE Healthcare and Siemens Medical.
ERDA was purchased for their aircraft seating technology by DeCrane Aircraft Seating, Inc. and retained its name.
ERDA continued to diversify and expanded into building fire suppression equipment products for Kidde Fire.
Guy and Sara Meyerhofer purchased ERDA, renaming it Quality Assembly & Logistics, LLC. (QAL), focusing on lean manufacturing and specializing in electro-mechanical assembly.
QAL purchased a continuous passive motion device (CPM) product line, naming it OrthoAgility®. At this time, the division of QAL Medical™, LLC. was established, a division specifically focused on the world-wide marketing and manufacturing of continuous passive motion devices.
The pursuit of improvement and additional services, in response to evolving markets continues to be a top priority for QAL.
